The "pêche à la mouche" pick-up
Inspired from the model used by the world-renowned guitarist, this new model has been produced for the 100th anniversary of Django's birthday, and includes many technical improvements on its predecessor. It is now possible to play "magnetic" on gypsy strings without any volume difference between plain strings (E B) and wound strings (G D A E) The pick-up is specially designed for the type of strings used on gypsy guitars (for gypsy strings only!). The mounting system works with a leaf spring and is easily fixed on the instrument with the volume potentiometer near the top ... price..$350

Handcrafted in France since 1977, Dugain picks feature a scalloped thumb indent and index finger channel that render them very comfortable to hold and virtually undroppable. The range of 30 natural plectrum materials includes horn, bone, agate, coconut.shell, ebony and bronze. . Each material has its own individual tone and feel, and can lend character to a particular style of playing or instrument type. I supply them in two sizes. . Personal preference may depend on hand-size, but as a general guide Standard picks may be more suited to rhythm-oriented acoustic, jazz and electric styles and can really fatten up a bass, whilst the Mini picks lend themselves well to the precision lead-work of blues, rock and metal - also more intricate electric and acoustic jazz, classical and mandolin playing. Horns are growths that protrude from the skulls of some animals. Horns are made of two components: 1) bone and 2) keratin. The bone is the center, or core, of the horn and is fused to the bone of the skull. The bone core is covered by a resilient sheath (protective covering) made of keratin. Horns are a permanent part of the animal, which means the horns an animal is born with are the same horns it has its entire life. Horns do not branch out, but instead end in only one point on each side of the animal's head. Depending on the species of animal horns might be found on both males and females, or males only. Hematite is an important ore of iron and its blood red color (in the powdered form) lends itself well to use as a pigment. Hematite gets its name from a Greek word meaning blood-like because of the color of its powder. Ancient superstition held that large deposits of hematite formed from battles that were fought and the subsequent blood that flowed into the ground.
